IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans GT Ideal Retained Squad and Players List

If there is a term to define the Gujarat Titans team, it will be Underdogs. Year-on-year, the team has often proved the critics wrong by playing above their weight. Be it their debut year in 2022 where almost no one counted them as favourites to win the trophy to the very next year where they ended as Runner-up, to this year where there were major issues with their squad, but they still ended up in the Playoffs.

It has been another solid year for Gujarat Titans as they finished in the top 4, but just didn’t have enough firepower to overcome the mighty Mumbai Indians in the Playoffs. Even as the team had many shortcomings like unreliable and untested Middle-order and lower-order along with Rashid Khan’s form, the team still ended in the top 4; courtesy of the terrific top-order and a well-balanced bowling lineup.

With partial success behind their back, the next objective for Gujarat Titans will be to fill the gaps they had in their team, and to finalize their retained players before they go into the IPL 2026 Mini Auction. Even after tasting some success, Gujarat Titans know they have gaps in their squad, which means the team will be looking to release a few non-performing or redundant players in their squad. So, let’s look at the best possible retained and released players list for Gujarat Titans (GT) for IPL 2026. 

IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans – GT Ideal Retained Squad Players List

If we talk about the players whom Gujarat Titans will retain without a second thought, we are looking at 12 players. Among batters, we should see Shubman Gill, Shahrukh Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, and Sai Sudharsan. From wicket-keepers, we have Jos Buttler. From All-rounders, we should see Arshad Khan, Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar. Whereas among bowlers, we should see Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, and Rashid Khan. So, in all these 12 players shall be retained for being the core of the team. 

Coming to Overseas players, there aren’t many names that Gujarat Titans shall look to retain. Among the big names, Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan, and Sherfane Rutherford shall be retained for being the core of the team.  However, there will be debate on Kagiso Rabada, who is expensive for GT, but was unavailable for most part of the tournament, and didn’t perform in the opportunities he had. But the team might look at retaining Gerald Coetzee, who looks impressive. 

In terms of other players that GT shall retain, we are looking at the likes of Anuj Rawat as a backup wicket-keeper. For backup All-rounders, Manav Suthar, Nishant Sindhu, and Mahipal Lomror are good names to have in the team. Whereas among bowlers, Kulwant Kejroliya is a good prospect to have in the team. So, overall, expect Gujarat Titans to retain 18 players in the squad, and release 8 including the replacements.

Among the players that Gujarat Titans shall look to release are mostly Overseas players – Glenn Phillips, Karim Janat, Dasun Shanaka, and Kagiso Rabada. There might be a debate on Kagiso Rabada and Glenn Phillips. But as mentioned the reason for Rabada, GT didn’t find value on Phillips, and was also not played in IPL 2025 when they had the opportunity. So, expect these two to be released alongside Dasun Shanaka and Karim Janat, who are redundant in this lineup. 

Among other Indian players, we can see Gujarat Titans releasing the likes of Kumar Khushagra, Jayant Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Ishant Sharma. While Ishant is good, his fitness and age aren’t by his side. Jayant, Gurnoor, and Kumar might exit just to add a few more youngsters available in the IPL 2026 Mini Auction. So, overall, expect Gujarat Titans to have around 15-20 Cr in the Auction to target 7 more players.
