We are only a couple of weeks away from the official announcement of the IPL 2025 Retained players list, but the excitement is already keeping us on our toes. Unlike the other Mega Auction, the IPL 2025 edition will witness teams retaining more players than usual, thus signifying the importance of maintaining the core that helped each team from 2022 to 2024.
What’s more, unlike the previous editions, the IPL 2025 edition will see teams being given the freedom to use the RTM (Right to Match) cards too. RTM cards basically help teams that do not want to spend much on retaining a player, thus getting his actual value in the Auction. And if there is one category of players that will see a lot of RTM cards being used, it is the Spinners.
Yes, aside from a few spinners that will be retained, we will also see a few spinners being bought back via RTM cards too. IPL 2025 Best Predicted Retained and RTM Spinners List for All 10 Teams
Retained Spinners
If we start with the spinners that will be for sure retained by the teams, we are looking at two pure spinners, and four spin-bowling all-rounders. Among pure spinners, we should see Delhi Capitals retaining Kuldeep Yadav for 11 Cr, and Gujarat Titans retaining Rashid Khan for 14 or 16 Cr. Both these spinners are also the leading spinners at the International level, and thus will get the priority when it comes to retention.
For the spin-bowling all-rounders, we are looking at four names. We should see CSK retaining Ravindra Jadeja for 14-16 Cr, Delhi Capitals retaining Axar for 14 Cr, RCB retaining Glenn Maxwell for 14 Cr, and Sunrisers Hyderabad retaining Abhishek Sharma for 14 Cr. These four players are the leading spin all-rounders for their respective teams, and should get the priority when it comes to retention. Of the four, Ravindra Jadeja will be the one to get the highest retention price of around 16 Cr.
RTM Spinners
Talking about spinners on whom RTM will be used, we have five names in front of us. So, there are Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy from KKR, Ravi Bishnoi from LSG, and Riyan Parag and Yuzvendra Chahal from RR. While ideally, any team would have liked to retain these five spinners, given the price dynamics, teams won’t spend more on these players, when they know they might get these spinners in the Auction at a lesser price.
