Asia Cup 2025 Best Team India Squad List basis IPL Performances

Explore Team India best predicted squad list for the Asia Cup based on IPL 2025 performances. From breakout stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal to Varun Chakravarthy to seasoned match-winners like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, see who’s likely to make the cut for the UAE showdown.

It’s one of those rare phases in Indian Cricket where, for an entire month, we are not seeing the Indian team playing International cricket. Barring the COVID time, it’s fairly difficult to remember the Indian team taking such a long break from Cricket. While the break is more of a forced one as the Bangladesh series got postponed amidst the political tensions between both countries, August will be a dry month for the Indian team and their fans.

But the wait won’t be longer as the Indian team gears up for a fantastic Asiatic challenge, the Asia Cup 2025. Technically, it’s a tournament designed to conduct a 2-3 match bilateral series between India and Pakistan, where both teams play at least two matches, and one more if they both qualify for the finals. The whole focal point of the Asia Cup is the India vs Pakistan face-off, given the decline in quality of other Asia teams.

The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled from September 09 to September 28, but Team India are yet to announce the official squad. Given that the format for this year’s Asia Cup shall be T20, the Indian Premier League performances will play a pivotal role in the selection of the players. So, keeping the IPL stats in mind, let’s evaluate the current Indian team, and look at the best possible squad and players list for Team India for the Asia Cup 2025.

Asia Cup 2025 Best Squad for Team India Detailed

When we talk about the best batters that have not only been doing well at the International stage, but also in the Indian Premier League, we have Suryakumar Yadav as the best batter in T20Is, Abhishek Sharma as the first-choice opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal as the other opener, Tilak Varma as the top-order batter, and Shreyas Iyer as the strong middle-order batter. These five batters have been doing really well in the IPL in the last few years, and they also play a different role in the team.

However, among these five batters, Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal haven’t been playing International T20Is for a while now, but they have been actively playing well in the Indian Premier League. For these two batters, there’s competition in the form of Shubman Gill, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh. But Jaiswal and Shreyas are better players at the moment, and they surely deserve a chance above the other three. However, knowing the Indian Team’s thought process currently, Shubman Gill is projected as an all-format Captain soon, so expect Gill to be in the side, and one of Iyer or Jaiswal to miss out in that case.

Coming to the Wicket-keepers, Sanju Samson is the best wicket-keeper for Team India currently, and he has been doing well at the International stage as well as the Indian Premier League. Other than Samson, there aren’t good options available. There are three options in front of us in the form of Rishabh Pant, Jitesh Sharma, and Dhruv Jurel. Since Rishabh Pant is injured, between Jitesh Sharma and Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma, the finisher, seems more potent to handle the team’s composition.

All-rounders in Focus

Moving on to the All-rounders, there shouldn’t be much discussion in this space with Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel being the leading All-rounders, and Washington Sundar and Abhishek Sharma being the supporting ones. Aside from these four, there are two more quality All-rounders warming the bench, Nitish Reddy and Shivam Dube. But since only a 15-member squad is possible, the above All-rounders are good to go, and they have been performing well in the IPL as well.

Finally, selecting the bowling attack won’t be too difficult as Jasprit Bumrah is also there. For Team India, Jasprit Bumrah is the leading pacer, and Varun Chakravarthy is the leading spinner in T20Is, and both have done extremely well in the Indian Premier League. In support, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Kuldeep Yadav are the supporting bowlers in the team, who have also been doing well in the IPL.

Other than these bowlers, the team can also look at Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravi Bishnoi. All these three bowlers are in contention, more so for their performance in the IPL last (barring Bishnoi, who was decent in T2OIs). However, since only 5 bowlers will be there at max, expect Team India to select the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana.
