IPL 2025 All 10 Teams Full New Wicket-keeper List Update

Heinrich Klaasen and Rishabh Pant among stars in our full new wicket-keeper list for all 10 teams for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. 

Wicket-keepers are a rare breed in T20 cricket. As a cricketer, most players either look to become a pure batter, or a pure bowler with some training themselves to play both the roles. But when it comes to wicket-keeping, you should not only be good at keeping skills, but the game demands you to also be a good batter. That’s why if you look at the player skills-set in the last 10-15 years, hardly 10-15% of the players become wicket-keepers.

Even in India, which is a cricket-loving nation, we have only a handful of cricketers who are good at keeping. To name a few who are good keepers as of today, and in contention for the Indian team, we have Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Ishan Kishan, etc. As we can see, hardly 4-5 keepers, who are also good batters. That’s a ridiculously smaller number for a nation that thrives on cricket, and considers MS Dhoni, the GOAT keeper as their role model.

Even as we consider the biggest T20 tournament in the world, the Indian Premier League, we have roughly 29 wicket-keepers spread across 10 teams for IPL 2025. That’s roughly 3 keepers per team of 22-25 players. While teams won’t mind having more keepers, such is the supply of keepers that from a quality standpoint, there aren’t many. Overall, if you observe, teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Chennai Super Kings, have at least two quality wicket-keepers in their side who are good enough to play purely as a batter than as a wicket-keeper. Also, if we had to look at which team has the best wicket-keepers, it has to be Lucknow Super Giants, who have two solid WKs in the form of Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant.
