The Indian players are currently busy playing the Indian Premier League, but one piece of news that has managed to generate curiosity amidst the IPL storm is the confirmation by the International Olympics Committee (IOC) that Cricket will be a part of the 2028 LA Summer Olympics. Yes, Cricket is set to return to the Olympics after a gap of more than 100 years, and this is great news for cricket fans who have been eagerly waiting for Cricket to feature in the Olympics event. 

The IOC has confirmed that six teams will participate in the Cricket event, with hosts USA already being qualified. So, there are five more spots that will be filled, but the qualification criteria for those five spots is still unknown. The ICC will find a way to feature India as one of the countries to participate in the tournament, given the financial power, and India’s dominance in world cricket. But aside from India, Australia, South Africa, England, and New Zealand look like favourites to participate. 

The IOC has categorically mentioned that each team will select a 15-member squad, and with the tournament still 3 years away, we can’t say for sure which players will feature in the tournament. The tournament will be played in T20 format, and that means young blood who are emerging today will mostly be a part of the Indian team for the tournament. One such player set that may feature in the 2028 LA Olympics is the uncapped players from IPL 2025.

The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025, has seen many uncapped players making a mark with their performance in the batting and bowling department. Many quality uncapped players are not only overshadowing the most experienced players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, etc., but also young and emerging talents like Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, etc.  

While we know for sure the squad for LA Olympics 2028 will be a mix of experienced and young players, how about we take an interesting direction, and build a squad based on IPL 2025’s best-performing uncapped players? There are many quality uncapped players in the IPL 2025 who are doing extremely well in the batting and bowling departments. So, let’s look at the best batters, bowlers, and wicket-keepers in the tournament currently, and find out the best 15-member squad list for the LA Olympics 2028. 

Batters & WKs

If we talk about the most impressive uncapped batters in IPL 2025 so far, we have the likes of Priyansh Arya, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh from PBKS, Aniket Verma from SRH, Angkrish Raghuvanshi from KKR, and Ashutosh Sharma from Delhi Capitals. These batters have been the most impressive so far, and have done really well in their role. While Priyansh has been a terrific opener for PBKS, Nehal Wadhera and Angkrish Raghuvanshi have really done well in the middle-order. Similarly, Aniket Verma, Shashank Singh, and Ashutosh Shamr have been superb finishers for their respective teams. 

With five batters already set, the most impressive uncapped wicket-keepers have been Prabhsimrah Singh and Abhishek Porel. Both wicket-keepers are part of the first-choice playing 11 for PBSK and Delhi Capitals, and, time and again, have proved their worth. While Prabhsimran Singh plays as an opener for PBKS, Abhishek Porel is a solid number 3 for the Delhi Captials. Of these 8 players, expect 2-3 to actually feature in the 2028 LA Olympics. 

All-rounders

Talking about all-rounders, there aren’t many good batting all-rounders in the team as IPl as a format doesn’t encourage batting all-rounders due to the impact player rule. However, Naman Dhir, as the batting all-rounder has been really good, although he hasn’t got a chance to bowl. Aside from Naman, the likes of Ashutosh, Priyansh, and Aniket Verma can bowl, too. Other than Naman, Vipraj Nigam and Vignesh Puthir have been impressive as bowling all-rounders

Bowlers

Finally, talking about the best uncapped bowlers in IPL 2025, there are four standout bowlers, and those are Ashwani Kumar from MI, Digvesh Singh from LSG, Simarjeet Singh from SRH, and Vaibhav Arora from KKR. While the pace trio of Ashwnai, Simarjeet, and Vaibhav have been really good for their respective, Digvesh Rathi, the mystery spinner, has easily overshadowed his team’s best spinner, Ravi Bishnoi.

From the captaincy point of view, Shashank Singh will be the most ideal candidate to lead the squad. While this is more of a hypothetical approach to build the squad, we really hope at least 5-6 players from this group actually feature in the LA 2028 Olympics.
