IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans (GT) Auction Analysis Predicted Retained Squad Released Players List
Discover the complete Auction analysis, purse details, and best predicted retained squad and released players list for Gujarat Titans for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
Gujarat Titans – a team that won the IPL trophy in their first appearance itself. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the Gujarat Titans team (under the 10-team model) made their debut in 2022. It was a solid debut for the GT as they defeated the then-debut IPL-trophy winner, the Rajasthan Royals. RR had made their debut in 2008 when IPL came into existence, and then GT continued to create history after almost 15 years by winning the IPL trophy on debut.
However, unlike the Rajasthan Royals, GT’s trophy victory wasn’t a one-trophy wonder. They continued their consistency in 2023, and made back-to-back final appearances. They were almost there to win their second IPL trophy, but Ravindra Jadeja and CSK had other thoughts as they snatched the win from GT’s jaws. The IPL 2024 wasn’t a good year for GT, but a stable team in IPL 2025 saw them play their third Playoff.
Come to IPL 2026, GT’s first objective shall be to focus on the players they would like to retain, and the ones they would like to release. In the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, GT and other teams got a budget of 120 Cr. There is a good possibility that the budget may increase by 5 Cr, which will give them a cushion to focus on buying good releases and new players. But which players are GT likely to release and retain? Well, let’s analyse the complete existing squad for the Gujarat Titans, and do a good, detailed analysis for the IPL 2026 Mini Auction.
IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans – GT Retained Squad Players List
The first main question that GT will ask is what is their core of players? Since 2025 was a revamp year, GT had 14 matches to develop a good core for the upcoming years. Thankfully, GT didn’t have to chop and change much, and was able to build a solid core that will play the centre role in GT’s development in the coming years. Among core players who will be retained without a second thought are Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Mohammed Siraj, R Sai Kishore, Prasidh Krishna, and Jos Buttler.
After these players, we have Grade B players, who played most of the matches, but mostly played the secondary supporting role. Among such players, we have Sherfane Rutherford, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar, and Rashid Khan. The reason to include Rashid Khan here is that he is currently experiencing the lowest point of his cricketing career. Last two years, Rashid Khan has looked like an ordinary bowler, and GT may have second thoughts about whether to give 18 Cr to Rashid or not.
Aside from these players, GT may place trust in other new and experienced players like Anuj Rawat, Manav Suthar, Nishant SIndhu, Arshad Khan, Gerald Coetzee, and Kagiso Rabada. Rabada missed the 2025 tournament due to personal reasons. But he is too good to be among the released players. Coetzee, meanwhile, can be a good backup option for Rabada. So, overall, GT may retain 19 players, and will have Sept 113.65 Cr from the total budget.

Coming to the players that GT are likely to release, the main ones to see the exit gates shall be the Overseas players, Dasun Shanaka, Karim Janat, and Glenn Phillips. Phillips may still be a debatable option, but the other two options are sure to go. Similarly, GT may release a few Indian players too, as mentioned below, and will instead look for fresh young talent in the Auction, as a part of their scouting strategy.
IPL 2026 Gujarat Titans (GT) Predicted Released Players List
- Kumar Khushagra
- Dasun Shanaka (o)
- Glenn Phillips (o)
- Jayant Yadav
- Karim Janat (o)

If the Gujarat Titans retain 19 players, they would have spent 113.65 Cr from their Auction purse kitty. If the budget gets revised to 125 Cr, they shall have 12 Cr available with them to buy 6 more players. Since GT already have a solid Indian core, they would like to buy Overseas players as a backup to existing ones, Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford, Rashid Khan, and Kagiso Rabada.
Overall, the Gujarat Titans may retain a strong core before the Auction, and the only thing they would like to do in the Auction is buy backups. GT currently lack good backup Overseas players, and that is one gap they would like to fill in the Auction. With around 12 Cr to be used in the Auction, it won’t be a purse to have. If GT need extra purse, the only thing they might do is release Rashid Khan. However, this looks like a distant possibility, at least for this year.
