IPL 2025 All 10 Teams Best Powerplay Bowlers List Revealed
Mumbai Indians, the standout in our ranking of the best powerplay bowlers for all 10 teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
There are two types of bowlers that bowl the most difficult phase of the matches. One is death bowling from 16 to 20 overs, and the other is Powerplay bowling from 1 to 6 overs. These are not only the most difficult phase of the matches for any bowler, but they can also bring in some good rewards if there is good quality of bowlers bowling in the phase. As they say in trading terms, these are the high-risk, and high-reward phases.
Powerplay bowling is an art, and you need bowlers who are able to swing the ball in both directions, and bowl in the right channels. As we know, the first six overs is when the ball is hard, and with fielding restrictions on, batters tend to go hard at the bowlers to not only look for runs, but also to dismantle the length of the bowlers. With such a difficult phase of bowling, only those bowlers who are good at swinging the ball survive the phase with flying colours.
The IPL 2025 will witness many quality powerplay bowlers spread across 10 teams. Among the greats of the game in terms of powerplay bowling, we will see Trent Boult for MI, Bhuvneshwar Kumar for RCB, Mohammed Shami for SRH, Mitchell Starc from Delhi Capitals, Mohammed Siraj for GT, and many more. But as a team, which of the 8 teams excels in the powerplay bowling? Well, let’s look at the ranking of all 10 teams for their best powerplay bowlers for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
#10: LSG IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav & Avesh Khan
Starting with Lucknow Super Giants, they have Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan as their best powerplay bowlers. It’s a decent trio of powerplay bowlers, but experience is what they are lacking the most. There is definitely talent there, but with a lack of experience, it can be visible in crucial matches like knockouts.
#9: KKR IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora & Anrich Nortje
Number 9 sees Kolkata Knight Riders and they have Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, and Anrich Nortje as their best powerplay bowlers. KKR are in a similar situation to LSG, albeit with the inclusion of experienced Anrich Nortje in the side. With Anrich Nortje there, KKR have a marginally better powerplay bowling attack.
#8: CSK IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Khaleel Ahmed, Sam Curran & Ravichandran Ashwin
At number 8, we have Chennai Super Kings with Khaleel Ahmed, Sam Curran, and Ravichandran Ashwin as their leading powerplay bowlers. CSK do not have many pace options, and thus will have to rely on Ravichandran Ashwin in terms of powerplay bowling – the role which he has done well in the past. Aside from Ashwin, Sam and Khaleel are good powerplay bowling options to rely on.
#7: Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel & Mitchell Starc
For number 7, we have Delhi Capitals with Mukesh Kumar, Axar Patel, and Mitchell Starc as their best powerplay bowlers. Similar to CSK, Delhi will have to rely on Axar Patel for powerplay bowling. But the good thing is Axar has good experience bowling in the powerplay, and to support him, Mukesh Kumar and Mitchell Starc have good experience as well of bowling in the powerplay.
#6: SRH IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Mohammed Shami, Simarjeet Singh & Pat Cummins
For number 6, we have Sunrisers Hyderabad with Mohammed Shami, Simarjeet Singh, and Pat Cummins as their leading powerplay bowlers. Shami is undoubtedly one of the best powerplay bowlers in the world, and Cummins too is world-class. While Simarjeet Singh is inexperienced, he has done well in the past for CSK in powerplay overs. Overall, SRH have a good powerplay bowling attack.
#5: Gujarat Titans IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna & Kagiso Rabada
Number 5 sees the Gujarat Titans team, and they have Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Kagiso Rabada as the best powerplay bowlers. All three Siraj, Prasidh, and Rabada have good potential to bowl the powerplay overs, and they can swing the ball both ways too. However, the only thing missing is consistency in terms of picking wickets regularly. If GT can address this in powerplay overs, they have a long way to go.
#4: RR IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande & Sandeep Sharma
For number 4, we have Rajasthan Royals with Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, and Sandeep Sharma as the powerplay bowlers. RR have a good powerplay bowling attack, and all three Archer, Tushar, and Sandeep are wicker-takers too. The good thing is Tushar and Sandeep are in good form, and Archer is a world-class bowler who needs only a few good matches to feel the IPL longing.
#3: RCB IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar & Yash Dayal
For number 3, we have the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team with Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yash Dayal as the key powerplay bowlers. All three bowlers are well-equipped with powerplay bowling, and they bring unique skill sets to the table. While Bhuvi and Yash can swing the ball both way, Josh is a quality length bowler, and can use the off-pitch seam movement to perfection.
#2:PBKS IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson & Marco Jansen
At number 2, we have Punjab Kings, and they have Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, and Marco Jansen. The duo of Arshdeep and Marco will be too hot to handle for any team as they both are quality swing bowlers who can swing the ball both ways. With such strong bowlers, they also have a good third powerplay bowler to support them. For the third bowler, PBKS can go with one of Lockie Ferguson, Yash Thakur or Kuldeep Sen, and all are decent bowlers.
#1: MI IPL 2025 Best Powerplay Bowlers
Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult & Deepak Chahar
Finally, at numero uno, we have Mumbai Indians, and there is no doubt about their powerplay bowling skillset. Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, and Deepak Chahar are some of the best in the business in terms of powerplay bowling, and if these three bowl together at Wankhede, it would be a dream combination for any team. The only problem that MI may face is the injury concerns for Deepak or Bumrah. If MI can sustain this, they will be the pioneers of Powerplay bowling.
So, that’s about the best Powerplay bowlers for all 10 teams for IPL 2025.
