IPL 2025 Ranking Each Team for their Most Valuable Player

The world is currently witnessing the clash of the Champions in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but in just a month’s time, we will witness the biggest T20 league in the world, the Indian Premier League. The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025 will kick-start with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Kolkata on Match 22.
Thanks to the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, each team feels strong on paper, and is filled with quality players in their lineup. But there is always that one player who will lit up the show, and be in the outlier in the team with a standout performance. Yes, we are talking about the Most Valuable Player, and that player can be a Batter, Bowler, Wicket-keeper, or an All-rounder.
There is always that one player who comes out with flying colours, and gives the most remembering performance. But if we were to analyze the squad of each team, and find out the pre-tournament MVP of each team, wouldn’t that be interesting? More interesting would be if we look at the ranking of all 10 Teams basis their Most Valuable Player for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Alright then, let’s get to it.
#10: Punjab Kings (PBKS) – Shreyas Iyer
Starting at number 10, we have Punjab Kings, and there are multiple MVPs in the team in the form of Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal. But if there is one player that PBKS will bang the most in the performance, it is Shreyas Iyer. Iyer is currently in stunning form, and with him as the leader of the PBKS setup, there will be added responsibility for performing well. However, in terms of quality, Shreyas Iyer marginally falls short of the competition, and hence finds himself at the 10th position.
#9: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) – Rishabh Pant
Number 9 sees Rishabh Pant, who will face tough competition from Nicholas Pooran for the Most Valuable Player spot in the LSG team. Both Pooran and Pant are amazing players, and are neck-and-neck in terms of quality. However, Pant is slightly more experienced in this format, and is also the Captain of the side. Thus, Pant will be the MVP to watch out for in the LSG camp.
#8: Delhi Capitals – Axar Patel
For number 8, we have Axar Patel in the Delhi Capitals side. Axar has seen a phenomenal rise as an all-rounder in the last few years. Not just IPL, Axar is also the second-best all-rounder in the Indian team currently. In the Delhi Capitals side, there is only KL Rahul who can challenge Axar for the MVP role, but given Axar’s stunning form at the moment, he should fetch the MVP reward for the Delhi Capitals side.
#7: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – Heinrich Klaasen
For number 7, we have the world’s best finisher, Heinrich Klaasen. The rise of Klaasen in the world of cricket in the last few years has been phenomenal. Such has been his strong aura that he is already the most expensive foreign player in the IPL currently. Undoubtedly, he is the MVP of the team, and will also play a vital role in team’s success as he did in 2024.
#6: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – Ruturaj Gaikwad
Number 6 sees the Captain of the Chennai Super Kings side, Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the most consistent batters in the Indian Premier League currently, and has been performing really well for his side. Aside from Ruturaj, the team has Ravindra Jadeja as the strong contender for the MVP category, but given Ruturaj’s success, and his position in the batting, he looks all set to continue being the MVP for this team in IPL 2025.
#5: Gujarat Titans (GT) – Shubman Gill
At number 5, we have Gujarat Titans with Shubman Gill as their MVP. Gujarat Titans have 2-3 players to challenge the MVP category in the camp. The likes of Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler, and Sai Sudharsan are superb player, and have already had big success in the IPL. But Gill is currently in the form of his life. He is also the Captain of the side, and will play a crucial role in the team’s success.
#4: Rajasthan Royals (RR) – Yashasvi Jaiswal
For number 4, we have Yashasvi Jaiswal from the Rajasthan Royals side. The trio of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is quite dangerous when it comes to being the youth leader. But between the three, if there is one player who is not only consistent, but also belligerent when it comes to T20 cricket, it is Yashasvi Jaiswal. Hence, Jaiswal is ranked higher in the pecking order when it comes to IPL.
#3: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – Andre Russell
For number 3, we have Andre Russell from the Kolkata Knight Riders side. KKR have a couple of quality players that can fetch the MVP role. Last year it was Sunil Narine, who was stunning as the bowler and batter for the KKR side. But between the two, Russell is far more dangerous, and has the potential to do well in both departments. Hence, Russell, the MVP is one of the best in the business in the Indian Premier League.
#2: Mumbai Indians (MI) – Jasprit Bumrah
For number 2, we have the world’s best bowler, Jasprit Bumrah. The MI team has so many MVPs in the side. Be it Suryakumar Yadav as the world’s best T20 batter, Hardik Pandya as the world’s best all-rounder, Tilak Varma as the best-emerging prospect. But when Jasprit Bumrah comes into the picture, it is quite difficult to ignore him. Bumrah has won so many matches for his team with some stunning bowling performances, and hence will always be the MVP not just in the IPL, but also on the International stage.
#1: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Virat Kohli
At numero uno, we have Virat Kohli from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru squad 2025. Virat Kohli is the legend of the game, and even at the age of 36, he is defining the barriers be it fitness or performance. He is one of the best batters going around, and his performance in IPL 2024 is a testimony to it. The RCB team will once again need their premier batter to fetch the MVP role for their team with a top-notch performance.
