India vs New Zealand 2026 Full ODI Squad and Players List

With Shubman Gill returning, discover the official squad and players list for India vs New Zealand 2026 ODI series.

The first ODI series of 2026 for the Indian cricket team is here, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announces the squad for the ODI series vs New Zealand. A lot of speculations were going on for Virat Kohli and a few more players, but all those rumours were put to rest, as the BCCI has announced the squad that includes Virat Kohli.

The squad also sees the return of India’s new ODI Captain, Shubman Gill, who had missed the previous ODI series due to injury. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli included in the squad, the excitement will be sky high for the fans, as this is the only format RoKo play. The India vs New Zealand 2026 ODI series shall see a total of 3 matches, starting Jan 10. Also, this is the last ODI series before players play the Indian Premier League

The BCCI has primarily made 3 changes in the side, as compared to the squad that played against South Africa. Captain Shubman Gill, Vice Captain Shreyas Iyer, and Pacer Mohammed Siraj. Wheres the Indian team has released, or one can say dropped, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, and Dhruv Jurel. So, overall, India added a pacer extra as compared to what they had for the South Africa ODI series.

India vs New Zealand 2026 ODI Squad Decoded

If we talk about the squad composition, we are looking at Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Virat Kohli as the primary batters in the squad. For the wicket-keepers, India have once again gone with the same combination of KL Rahul as the primary keeper, with Rishabh Pant as the backup keeper. So, overall, India have a strong batting attack with five batters and two WKs in the side.

Now, with Hardik Pandya rested, India have opted for 3 All-rounders in the side, and sadly, there’s no Axar Patel still. It’s a mystery why Axar Patel is completely ignored in ODIs, when in fact he has done no wrong. It seems the Indian team is looking at only one between Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, since the ODI World Cup will be played in South Africa. Aside from Jadeja, India have opted for Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar among All-rounders in the side.

For the bowling lineup, India have opted for 4 pacers and 1 primary spinner in the side. India have once again rested Jasprit Bumrah in the ODIs, and that means Arshdeep Singh is the leading pacer in the side, and he will have support from Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna. Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav remains the sole primary spinner in the side. So, we still don’t see Varun Chakravarthy in the ODI team as yet.
