The IPL is the biggest cricket league in the world, and it is also managed by the richest cricket board in the world, the BCCI. Players get handsome salaries in the IPL, and every year via Auction, we see Uber records being broken in terms of the bidding players receive.
The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2026, will witness a Mini Auction this time in December. Unlike the Mega Auction where teams are restricted from retaining 3-6 players, the Mini Auction gives the freedom to teams to retain as many players as possible. With money being the prime focus in each Auction, it is the same while retaining or releasing the players before the Auction.
The IPL 2026 saw teams retaining as many as 173 players. Each team has been given a purse of INR 125 Cr, and the teams are likely to spend INR 237 Cr in the Auction. KKR can spend the most at 64.3 Cr, and the Mumbai Indians can spend the least at 2.75 Cr.
