IPL 2025 Best Performing Players Team at Halfway Stage

Nicholas Pooran and Sai Sudharsan in focus in our best performing players Team at halfway stage for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

We are at the hallway stage of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2025, and it has been a surprise package in terms of what we have seen from the teams and players. Multiple IPL title winners, MI, CSK, and KKR are lying in the bottom half of the points table. Whereas yet-to-win IPL title teams like Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, RCB, and LSG are in the top-half of the points table.

Similarly, we seen some consistent performance from attacking batters like Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Jos Buttler, Shreyas  Iyer, etc., and decent performances from anchor players like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Sanju Samson, etc. Usually, consistency and attacking batting is a trade-off, and if a batter is consistent, he won’t have a higher SR, and vice versa. But the norms have been changed in this IPL.

This is a good thing in a way as the game is shifting away from the traditional watch-the-situation type of cricket to hit-the-ball kind of cricket. The success probability in this case has been on the higher side, except for a few matches which can come any day. Like for SRH, it came in the most important match, the IPL 2024 final. But it’s a shift, and eve, CSK, that plays traditional cricket is being forced to adapt to new T20 norms.

IPL 2025 Mid Tournament Best Performing Players Team

Having said that, which players have been the top performers so far in the bowling and batting department. Every year we get to see the rise of new players that dominate the batting and bowling charts. So, in this article, we take a look at 11 such players + 1 impact player who will have performed extremely well in the first half of IPL 2025. As always, we will select at least 1 wicket-keeper, 7 batting options, 6 bowling options, and a maximum of 4 Overseas players.

Batting Lineup

Starting with the batting lineup, we talk about the two best openers in IPL 2025 so far, and look no other than Sai Sudharsan and Mitchell Marsh as the dream batting pair so far in the competition. While Sai is 2nd on the list of leading run-scorers with 365 runs to his name, Marsh isn’t far behind with 299 runs to his name, and is at 5th position. While Sai has been consistent with runs in almost all the matches, Marsh has been consistent as well as belligerent with four 50+ scores at a strike rate of 168. Moreover, the consistency of Sai has been encouraging, and his range of shots is something that has been a standout.

For number 3, we have Jos Buttler, who has made the number 3 position his own, after being an opener for most part of his IPL career. Buttler has most of the times anchored the GT batting lineup with Gill not in form. Buttler currently has 315 runs from 7 games at a good average of 63, and a strike rate of 164. More often than not, Buttler has carried the team with his batting along Sai, and these two are the reason why GT is currently in the first position.

Aggressive Middle-order

With a solid top 3, we have PBKS’s Captain Shreyas Iyer a 4, and the Orange Cap leader Nicholas Pooran at 5. Of course, the batting position of these two are slightly lower, but such has been their performance that they can’t be ignored, and even if they are placed at 4 and 5, their outcome shouldn’t differ much. Both have been excellent so far in the competition with Iyer scoring 257 runs at a strike rate of 195, and Pooran scoring 368 runs at a strike rate of 206.

Finally, talking about the finishers, there is no doubt on Hardik’s position at number 6, but for number 7, we have a surprise in the form of Abdul Samad. Samad has been an ideal number 7 in the competition, and has played useful attacking cameos for his team. He currently has 111 runs at a solid strike rate of 222 – the best in the competition so far.  In competition for Samad, we have Naman Dhir, Ashutosh Sharma, Aniket Verma, and Tim David. While David has been the best finisher so far, the Overseas player restriction means Abdul is the 2nd-best option.

Bowling Lineup

Talking about the bowling lineup including the impact player, we have a combination of 4 pacers and 2 spinners. While Khaleel Ahmed, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya are the top 4 pacers in IPL 2025 so far, the spin department is dominated by wrist spinners, Noor Ahmad and Kuldeep Yadav. Prasidh is the purple cap leader currently with 14 wickets from 7 games. Khaleel and Siraj have been identical with 11 wickets a piece. Whereas Hardik has been super in middle overs, and has taken 11 wickets himself.

There is no question in terms of the spinners as Noor Ahmad and Kuldeep Yadav have been excellent so far. Both Noor and Kuldeep have taken 12 wickets from 7 games. But what separates them is the economy rate. While Kuldeep has an excellent economy rate of 6.3, Noor is slightly higher at 7.1. However, Noor averages just 12, which is amazing. Aside from these 6 bowlers, the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Sai Kishore, and Varun Chakravarthy have been good too in the bowling department.
