IPL 2025 Ranking the Best Overseas Players for All 10 Teams

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the outlier in our official Overseas players ranking for all 10 teams for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) may be exiting India in an exodus from the Stock Market, but if there is one place where foreigners are valued a lot, it is the Indian Premier League. The IPL as a platform provides great space for Foreign players to not only display their exceptional skillset via solid performance, but also to earn handsome amounts during their 2-month stay in the tournament.

More than 60 Overseas or Foreign players will be participating in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, and of those roughly 40-45 players will be actually playing by featuring in one of the 10 teams in the competition. Some of the big names that will grace the tournament include Heinrich Klaasen, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, Jos Buttler, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, Jofra Archer, etc.

With so many quality Overseas players participating in the tournament, the natural question arises of the quality of Overseas players present in each team. Well, how about we analyze the top 4 first-choice Overseas players for each team, and rank them basis their best Overseas players? Alright then, let’s look at the ranking of all 10 teams basis their best Overseas players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

IPL 2025 Overseas Players Ranking for All 10 Teams

#10: Mumbai Indians (MI) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Ryan Rickelton
  2. Mitchell Santner
  3. Will Jacks
  4. Trent Boult

At number 10, we have Mumbai Indians, and they have Ryan Ricelton, Mitchell Santner, Will Jacks, and Trent Boult as their top 4 Overseas players. Barring Boult, who has solid IPL experience, the other three don’t have much IPL experience, and hence MI are weaker in the Overseas players department. Also, having lost Ghazanfar, Santner is likely to lead the spin-bowling duties for Mumbai Indians.

#9: Rajasthan Royals (RR) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Shimron Hetmyer
  2. Wanindu Hasaranga
  3. Jofra Archer
  4. Maheesh Theekshana

For number 9, we have Rajasthan Royals with Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, and Maheesh Theekshana as their leading Overseas players. RR doesn’t have a quality Indian spinner, and will have to depend on the Sri Lankan spin duo. While both are quality spinners, and Archer is also a quality pacer, Hetmyer is a decent option among Overseas batters, and thus they lose some bounty points there.

#8: Delhi Capitals (DC) Best Overseas Player for IPL 2025

  1. Faf du Plessis
  2. Jake Fraser-McGurk
  3. Tristan Stubbs
  4. Mitchell Starc

For number 8, we have the Delhi Capitals team with Faf du Plessis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs, and Mitchell Starc as their top 4 Overseas players. Delhi will face a big dilemma while selecting one between Harry Brook and Faf du Plessis. Faf is a proven IPL player, and is also in stunning form. Whereas Brook looks miserable against spinners, and irrespective of the talent, Faf should be preferred above him. Alongside Faf, Fraser-McGurk, Stubbs, and Starc is a good combination to have.

#7: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Tim David
  2. Phil Salt
  3. Liam Livingstone
  4. Josh Hazlewood

For number 8, we have Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and it is the form of Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone that reduces their bounty points considerably. There is no doubt about the quality of Salt and Livingstone, but it is inconsistency and lack of good form that makes them vulnerable. Tim David is also no different when it comes to consistency, and Josh Hazlewood is currently injured. So, irrespective of the talent in the RCB camp, the Overseas players look vulnerable.

#6: Punjab Kings (PBKS) Best Overseas Player for IPL 2025

  1. Glenn Maxwell
  2. Marco Jansen
  3. Marcus Stoinis
  4. Azmatullah Omarzai

Punjab Kings is a slightly better version of Royal Challengers Bengaluru with their Overseas players being in better form at the moment. Be it Glenn Maxwell, Maro Jansen, or Azmatullah Omarzai, all three players are in good form at the moment, and that may be good positive news for the Punjab Kings. In addition, one of Marcus Stoinis or Josh Inglis should feature in the playing 11, and most-likely it should be Marcus Stoinis.

#5: Gujarat Titans (GT) Best Overseas Player for IPL 2025

  1. Jos Buttler
  2. Glenn Phillips
  3. Kagiso Rabada
  4. Rashid Khan

Number 5 sees Gujarat Titans, and they have a solid mix of Overseas players. Jos Buttler and Glenn Phillips in the batting department, and Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan in the bowling department make up for their Overseas players combination. There might be a debate on who between Phillips and Rutherford play, but Phillips seems to be in stunning form, and should be preferred above Rutherford.

#4: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Best Overseas Player for IPL 2025

  1. Aiden Markram
  2. David Miller
  3. Nicholas Pooran
  4. Mitchell Marsh

For number 4, we have the Lucknow Super Giants team, and they have four solid Overseas players in the form of Aiden Markram, David Miller, Nicholas Pooran, and  Mitchell Marsh. They might be the only team to be playing with all four Overseas batters, thus strengthening their batting further. All four players are solid for the T20 format, and the only drawback could be the injury of Mitchell Marsh. If Marsh is ruled out, LSG will have to depend on Breetzke for the fourth Overseas spot.

#3: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Devon Conway
  2. Sam Curran
  3. Matheesha Pathirana
  4. Noor Ahmad

At the number 3 position, we have Chennai Super Giants with Devon Conway, Sam Curran, Matheesha Pathirana, and Noor Ahmad as their top 4 Overseas players. CSK would be really happy to have this Overseas quartet as they ideally suit their home conditions. Conway is a solid stable opener. Sam Curran is a brilliant all-rounder, Pathirana is a superb pacer, and Noor Ahmad is a brilliant spinner to have in this format.

#2: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Quinton de Kock
  2. Andre Russell
  3. Sunil Narine
  4. Anrich Nortje

Moving to the top 2, we have the Kolkata Knight Riders team, and there should not even be any doubt in their Overseas players’ quality. Be it Quinton de Kock, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, or even Anrich Nortje, all four are proven IPL players, and their record speaks for themselves. While the picture is rosy, the only drawback is Anrich Nortje’s injury concern. If Nortje is missing, KKR will have to rely on Spencer Johnson for the pacer role.

#1: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Best Overseas Players for IPL 2025

  1. Travis Head
  2. Heinrich Klaasen
  3. Brydon Carse
  4. Pat Cummins

At the summit, we have the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, and they have outstanding Overseas players combination with the likes of Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Brydon Carse, and Pat Cummins. Having one of the world’s most dangerous openers and finishers is quite a sight for SRH. What’s more, the Captaincy of Cummins makes it even stronger. For the fourth Overseas spot, SRH may have to rely on Brydon Carse or Kamindu Mendis, and it’s a good headache to have.

So, that’s about the Overseas players ranking for all 10 teams for IPL 2025.
